2008 1% for the Tetons Grant Awards

Hello 1%ers,

Earlier this evening, 1% for the Tetons announced its 2008 grants awards.

This year, thanks to you, we raised over $150,000 to distribute in grants, an increase of 50% over 2007 (our first year).  This means that, in just two years, we have gone from literally nothing to having raised over one-quarter of a million dollars to fund long-term sustainability-related projects in the Tetons region.  This is an extraordinary achievement, and I am in the deepest awe of, and gratitude to, you.

We also can proudly say that every penny that you, as 1% members, have donated to us has gone into our granting pool.

Because 1% chooses to fully grant funding proposals, this year we were able to grant a total of $145,900 to nine separate projects.  The attached pdf describes each one (the pdf is what we used to make the handouts announcing the awards, and repeats itself on each page as we cut them in half).

At the celebration tonight, besides announcing our 2008 grants, we also heard from the 2007 grant award winners.  Each described how their 1% grant allowed them to pursue and accomplish a very meaningful project.  For those of you who were able to attend, I'm so glad you could hear how we have used our members' donations; for those of you not able to be there, I'm truly sorry, for it was a very powerful testimony to the power of pooling your donations and awarding them in a thoughtful fashion.

I cannot find the word to describe how grateful I am to each of you for your support of 1% for the Tetons.  You are truly making ours a better community - thank you so, so much.
